Digital Animation
ART 341 is an upper-division studio course developed to teach students how animation, interaction, and user-centered design converge in contemporary web and digital media environments. Working within Adobe Animate and the broader Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem, students learn frame-by-frame animation, motion and shape tweening, object-oriented design, UI components, basic scripting, and cross-application workflow strategies. The course emphasizes storyboarding, iterative prototyping, and an understanding of how end users perceive and engage with interactive content—skills that translate directly to modern digital product design. To extend contemporary relevance, select assignments incorporate AI-assisted ideation and asset refinement, allowing students to evaluate how emerging tools influence visual development, interaction patterns, and ethical design considerations. By the end of the semester, students produce animated and interactive pieces that demonstrate technical fluency, intentional user experience decisions, and a growing ability to build meaningful digital experiences.

Employer Highlights
Digital animation and timeline-based workflows are increasingly valuable to employers in marketing, web development, and product design, where motion is used to guide attention, explain complex ideas, and enhance user engagement. Students trained in timeline-based animation can contribute to projects such as animated website headers, explainer videos, interactive ads, onboarding sequences, or UI microinteractions that clarify user actions. In professional settings, a designer might use these skills to prototype motion behavior for a web interface, animate branded content for social media campaigns, or collaborate with developers to translate motion concepts into production-ready assets.
